Ukraine is on high alert due to Russian missile attacks on several cities

Russia fired two missiles into Ukraine this morning, one landing in Khmelnytskyi, about 280 kilometres west of Kyiv, and the other in the southern city of Mykolaiv, according to Governor Vitaliy Kim on Telegram. The air raid siren rang out across the country.

Ukraine has rejected direct attacks on more than 20 settlements along the front in the last few hours, according to the general staff of the armed forces of Kyiv, who also stated that Russia launched 10 missiles, 29 air strikes, and 69 rockets between 6 a.m. yesterday and 6 a.m. this morning. The threat remains “very high”.

The shelling has targeted settlements near Bakhmut, where Vladimir Putin hopes to break Ukrainian resistance and declare victory by the anniversary of the conflict on February 24. According to the Ukrainian general staff, Russia has continued to strike civilian infrastructure and homes in recent hours, in addition to direct attacks on military targets.

“Russian forces are increasing their attacks. Today, everything is difficult in every direction, and there are constant attempts to breach our defense lines “Serhiy Haidai, governor of eastern Ukraine’s Luhansk province, told local broadcasters about the fighting near the city of Kreminna.
