Söder’s S-Bahn programme has been delayed due to a trunk line disaster

The Prime Minister received a comprehensive concept of what could be improved on the S-Bahn in Munich without a second main route as early as 2020. However, much of this is only now becoming clear. Internal notes evidence this.

When the disaster in the expansion of Munich’s S-Bahn could no longer be hidden, Bavaria’s Prime Minister Markus Söder and his Transport Minister Christian Bernreiter appeared energised and hands-on. Söder promised better control when constructing the second main route, ensuring that there would be no unpleasant surprises. And Bernreiter announced a “Strong S-Bahn” programme, almost to compensate for the fact that the additional route will not be completed until 2035 or later, much later – and much more expensively – than planned.
