The US President will deliver a speech in Poland Tuesday (February 21), a key US ally and the focal point of extensive efforts to arm Ukraine and accept refugees.

Putin will speak in Moscow on the same day, three days before the anniversary of Russian tanks entering Ukraine on February 24.

Biden will honour NATO countries and what many saw as an unexpectedly well-organized Ukrainian army that pushed not only Russian forces back from the capital but also retook large swaths of territory. In three days, Biden will arrive in Warsaw to meet with Polish President Andrzej Duda. On March 3, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz will visit Washington.

However, Biden’s main public event will be a speech on Tuesday about “how the United States has rallied the world to support the Ukrainian people as they defend their freedom and democracy,” according to John Kirby. And once more: “President Biden will make it clear that the US will remain in Ukraine for as long as necessary. You will hear messages in the president’s speech that will undoubtedly resonate with the American people, with our allies and partners, and without a doubt with the Polish people. And I’m sure you’ll hear him address Mr. Putin and the Russian people.” Kirby also clarified that Biden does not intend to meet with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky or travel to Ukraine during the trip.

In an interview with the Kyiv Post, Andriy Yusov, Ukraine’s Defense Ministry’s Main Intelligence Directorate representative, discussed the alleged Russian plan. He ruled out a large-scale attack but predicted a Moscow offensive in Donbas in March.
“We have information that there are approximately 450 tactical aircraft (not strategic bombers) and approximately 300 helicopters, half of which are attack helicopters.”
Andriy Yusov, a representative of Ukraine’s Ministry of Defense’s Main Intelligence Directorate, told the Kyiv Post.
Yusov informed the masthead that, in his opinion, a “mass airstrike on Kyiv is unlikely.”
The vehicles “are primarily located on Russian Federation territory at least 200 kilometres from the border, concentrated in various locations but beyond our range of fire,” Yusov said.
